If you are applying for BOTH — AIQ and Deemed University — pay only ₹5,000 + ₹2,00,000 = ₹2,05,000 (the higher fee). There is no need to pay separately. This is the most common confusion among students.

MCC Counselling 2026 – Common Mistakes to Avoid

From Dr. SR Prajapati’s experience of guiding 1000+ students — top mistakes students make:

❌ Mistake 1: Forgetting to Lock Choices

Many students fill choices but don’t lock them. Unlocked choices are automatically locked by the system as per schedule — but sometimes technical issues can cause allotment to be missed. Always lock manually.

❌ Mistake 2: Filling Only Favourite Colleges

Students fill only 5-10 colleges. There is no limit on choices in MCC — you can fill 200-300 choices too. The more choices, the better the chance of getting a seat.

❌ Mistake 3: Ignoring Deemed Universities

Some students don’t consider deemed universities at all. If your rank is slightly short and you don’t get a government seat, deemed universities are a good option — especially the top-ranked ones.

❌ Mistake 4: Closing the Security Deposit Account

Many students pay the security deposit from a separate account and then close that account. Refund goes to the same account from which payment was made. Keep the account active until the refund arrives.

❌ Mistake 5: Only Doing AIQ Counselling, Missing State Counselling

MCC AIQ covers 15% seats. State quota 85% seats are filled through state counselling. Register in both simultaneously — missing one means missing the majority of seats.

❌ Mistake 6: Thinking of Leaving Seat After Round 3

Resigning after joining a Round 3 seat is not allowed. Think before participating in Round 3 — whether you want to participate or not.

MCC nic in Counselling 2026 – Conversion Algorithm

MCC NEET Counselling 2026 – Expert Strategy by Dr. SR Prajapati

After guiding 1000+ students, here is a proven strategy:

Phase 1 — Immediately After NEET Result:

  • Calculate your expected rank using rank predictors
  • Identify target colleges (Government AIQ + State Quota + Deemed)
  • Register on Day 1 as soon as the MCC registration window opens

Phase 2 — Choice Filling:

  • First, list AIIMS colleges (if rank is strong)
  • Then Government Medical Colleges (low fees, high value)
  • Then Central Universities / JIPMER
  • Then Deemed Universities (backup options)
  • Fill minimum 100-200 choices

Phase 3 — After Round 1 Allotment:

  • If you got a government seat — carefully decide whether you want to upgrade in Round 2 or not
  • If no seat — re-participate in Round 2 with fresh choices
  • Simultaneously participate in state counselling as well

Phase 4 — Round 3 & SVR:

  • If still no seat — aggressively register for SVR
  • In SVR, deemed university seats are often available even at lower ranks
